    Records achieved in Klaipeda Seaport in 2014

    2014 was marked by the abundance of records set in Klaipeda Seaport, the port’s press center says. The year has been considered to be the record year both due to received revenue and the record throughput of fertilizers, containers, grain and ore and  the impressive number of passengers calling the Seaport. In line Klaipeda Seaport received vessels record holders in 2014.

    THE LONGEST VESSEL

    „Celebrity Eclipse“

    Length – 317 m, beam – 37 m, height– 61 m.

    It has been the longest vessel calling the Seaport within the entire history of Klaipeda Port. Her length equals the length of three football fields and in the height the vessel is higher than the twenty – storey house. This impressive parameter vessel is capable to accommodate the number of passengers equal to the number of Lazdiju inhabitants (appox. 4400). This cruise liner can accommodate maximum 3150 passengers and 1250 crew members on board.

    CARGO WEITHG RECORD OF ALL- TIME

    „HS Alcina“

    The tanker 274 metres in length carried out 104 086 tons of fuel oil.

    The tanker flying the Liberian flag was loaded till the draught of 12,7 metres at the quay No.2 operated by SC „Klaipedos nafta“. The fuel oil was to be transported to Singapore. By then the tanker „Aegean Harmony“ was treated as the record tanker that carried  92 thou. 319 tn of oil products from Klaipeda Seaport in November of the last year.

    VESSEL THAT CARRIED OUT THE MOST ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF GRAIN

    „Piera“

    The vessel 229,5  metres in length carried out 74 tons of wheat.

    Within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport the most abundant by then amount of Lithuanian grain designated for export was loaded on the vessel. The vessel was berthed and loaded at the quay No. 67a of the universal agribulk export-import terminal   operated by Klaipeda Stevedoring Company „Bega“. Totally 74 thou. tn of wheat were loaded. This amount estimated in rail wagons should constitute approx. 1100 rail wagons or a railway train   over 16 kilometres in length.
