    Dmitry Medvedev and Igor Sechin visit Zvezda Shipyard

    Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev visited Zvezda Shipyard as part of the visiting meeting on import substitution in Vladivostok, Rosneft says. Head of the Government, together with Rosneft Chairman of the Management Board Igor Sechin examined the progress of the shipyard construction project and visited the construction site of the new large-tonnage dockyard for marine hulls manufacture. Upon its commissioning, Zvezda will be manufacturing vessels and ship structures, its processing capacity amounting to 330 k tons of metal annually.

    Shipyard construction comprises installation of all production and infrastructure facilities, as well as implementation of advanced industrial technologies required for optimal operation of the enterprise.

    Igor Sechin informed the Head of Government that the Zvezda project was provided with sufficient financing.

    “Rosneft will provide pilot throughput for the shipyard, for this purpose, the Company signed an exclusive agreement with FESRC (Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center) regarding placement of all orders for the manufacture of new marine equipment and vessels at its facilities”, Igor Sechin noted.

    The Company has already placed the orders for the construction of two multfunctional reinforced ice supply ships that can be operated under harsh conditions. A wide range of tasks can be resolved as part of Rosneft offshore projects implementation in the northern seas due to multitasking functionality of this type of vessels.

    Thus, the Company has been fulfilling its license commitments as related to placing orders with the Russian shipyards. Forecast number of vessels and offshore engineering units to be ordered at Zvezda plant before 2030 is estimated at 116.

    Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC) comprises major ship repair and shipbuilding industrial capacities of the Far-Eastern Federal District, such as Dalzavod Ship Repair Plant (Vladivostok), Far-Eastern Zvezda Plant (Bolshoy Kamen city), North-Eastern Repair Center (Vilyuchinsk). Today, the company resolves the issues of national importance related to retaining and enhancement of the development and production capacity of the military industrial complex focusing on concentration of intellectual, manufacturing and financial resources while implementing the shipbuilding and marine facilities construction projects for developing Russian offshore and civil shipbuilding.

    One of the most advanced shipyards in Russia is being built on Zvezda plant basis. The Zvezda shipbuilding complex will be the first large-tonnage dockyard in Russia manufacturing ships with launching weight up to 40 k tons.

    The new shipbuilding dockyard project will be built in three stages. Zvezda's first stage must enable the construction of mid-tonnage ships and marine facilities. The second stage will be to commission a dry dock and full-cycle production shops to build large-tonnage vessels and marine facilities. The third stage will be to start a dry dock with production shops to build offshore marine facilities in the Five Hunters Bay.

    Application of advanced large-block shipbuilding techniques will allow placing a unique 1200 t Goliaf-type crane in a heavy shipbuilding way. This is the first facility of that type in Russian shipyards.

    Zvezda Shipyard project is organized the way to start marine ships manufacturing upon completion of its first expanded stage. Operations will be expanded and marine facilities will be built simultaneously.

    Project implementation provides for creating over 7000 jobs. Upon commissioning of all Zvezda Shipyard facilities, the population of Bolshoy Kamen city will grow by 18.5 k people by 2024 (including the company employees and their families). To provide sufficient housing, 3 new districts are planned to be built. Primorsky Territory Administration is planning to start the construction of the first 3 apartment houses in 2016.
