Federal Budgetary Institution «Marine Rescue Coordination Service of Rosmorrechflot»

The idea to form the Marine Rescue Service based on the Requirement N 5128-p of the Council of Ministries of the USSR, dated 23 August 1956. Accordingly to this Requirement all the activity with respect of ship-raising and underwater technical operations for national-economic purpose for all civil administrations has been committed to the Ministry of Maritime Fleet of the USSR.

Marine Rescue Service organizes and actively participates in the annual joint international exercises at various levels at all marine basins of the Russian Federation.

The Marine Rescue Service consists of the:

- Federal Budgetary Institution “Marine Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot” – MRS;

- Branchs of the FBI “Marine Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot” at the marine basin.

FBI “Marine Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot” together with their branches and Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rescue Coordination Center of Rosmorrechflot” form a functional subsystem of means and resources respond to the emergency situations deals with search and rescue people in distress and oil spill response at the sea included in the United State System of Prevention and Elimination of Extraordinary Situations.

Thus, Marine Rescue Service is a developing state structure, which was formed to respond to emergencies at the sea, and reliable partner for maritime business community
