Russian seaports' seven-month throughput rises 5.8% to 406,1 million tonnes
Exports, imports and transit cargo volume handled in Russian ports between January and July of the year reached 406,1 million tonnes, which represents a 5.8-percent growth on the same period of 2015, Rosmorrechflot said.
The increase was driven primarily by a 9% and 3% gain in dry bulk and liquid bulk segments to 186.4 million and 219.6 million tonnes, accordingly.
Freight throughput at the sea ports of the Arctic basin was 25,5 million tonnes (+ 25.9%), including dry cargo – 14,9 million tonnes (+ 8%), liquid cargo – 10,5 million tonnes (+ 66%).
Cargo handling at sea ports of the Baltic Sea reached 135,7 million tonnes (+ 2.1%), including 50,7 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+ 1%) and 85 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+ 3%).
Freight traffic at the sea ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin totaled 134.7 million tonnes (+ 4.8%), of which dry bulk cargo – 55,5 million tonnes (+ 14%) and liquid cargo – 79,2 million tonnes (- 0,7%).
However, the seaports of the Caspian basin saw a 21.1-percent decline in cargo volumes to 3,28 million tonnes. The region's ports handled 1,59 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo, or 15.9% lower on the same period a year before, and 1,68 million tonnes of liquid bulk commodities (-25.5%).
Handling of outbound, inbound and transit cargo at the seaports of the Far Eastern basin rose to 106,8 million tonnes (+ 9.2%), including 63,5 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+15%) and 43,2 million tonnes of liquid bulk (+2%).
