Port of Gdansk launches new tender for attractively located areas
The Port of Gdansk has launched a new tender for the following attractively located areas in the Outer Port in the hinterland of the currently expanding DCT container terminal, PERN oil terminal, dry bulk cargo terminal of the Northern Port and the soon to be built new OT Logistics deepwater bulk terminal, PGA says.
The object of the tender is 7 adjacent plots with a total area of over 45 hectares, of which the smallest is less than 2 hectares, while the largest - over 12 hectares.
The indisputable advantage of all this real estate are its excellent transport connections by both road and rail. For many, value will be added by the direct proximity to the dynamically expanding Pomeranian Logistics Centre - currently the largest since it boasts half a million m2 of warehouse space, the national logistics project, and the so-called buffer parking zone planned nearby by the municipality.
This is the last of the free space at the disposal of potential investors interested in locating their business in the outer, deepwater area of the Port of Gdansk. These lots admittedly do not have direct access to the shoreline. However, their close proximity in terms of the main feeder rail link carrying traffic from the Outer Port into the heart of Poland and in terms of the main national road network and the A1 motorway make this currently one of the most attractive locations in the Port of Gdansk for the construction of intermodal or logistic terminals or enterprises with the capability of using this kind of transport.
Another important issue is their location in relation to the planned direction of the further extension of the deepwater area of the Gdansk port, i.e. the construction of the Outer/ Central Port. With a view to, among others, expanding the port in the immediate vicinity of this real estate, investment is planned for the 2014-2020 period within the scope of the project entitled "The development and modernisation of road and railway networks in the Outer Port in Gdansk". This project will include the construction of new and the reconstruction of the existing road-rail system, which ultimately will further improve communication in this area of the port which, as forecast in the "Strategy for the development of the port by 2027", is predicted to see the highest growth rate in cargo handling and the development of enterprises connected with the port.
In a word, soon 45 hectares of attractively located port land plots will be at the disposal of interested parties who appreciate opportunities to develop their production, logistics or service businesses in one of this country's fastest growing ports.
