    Marine Engineering Bureau – SPb (MEB-SPb CJSC) has developed designs of the two new railway ferries for Crimea-Kavkaz line, Project CNF08A and Project CNF08B, MEB press center says.

    Marine Engineering Bureau – SPb and Federal Marine and River Transport Agency signed a contract for the development of an engineering design for the railway passenger ferry to service the Crimea-Kavkaz line on October 20, 2014. According to the contract, the ferry boat should be able to carry passengers and passenger railcars as well as other ro-ro cargo and should have an Ice2 class to ensure round-the-year operation of the line.

    Ice2 railway ferry of project CNF08A for Crimea-Kavkaz line (for transportation of passengers and passenger railcars) has the following characteristics:

    RS class notation: КМ Ice 2 R2 AUT1-ICS HELIDECK Ro-ro passenger ship;
    LOA – 149.99 m;
    BOA - 22 m;
    Depth – 7.15 m;
    Draught - 4 m;
    Power – 4,080 KW;
    Cruising speed - 12 knots;
    Capacity: 15 railcars (24.54 m long) for transportation with passengers - 15 шт.; 25 railcars (24.54 m long) for transportation without passengers; 55 railcars (12.02 m long); 37 vehicle trains (without railcars); 214 passenger automobiles (only);
    Crew and personnel / reserve - 28/2;
    Passengers - 840;
    Endurance - 10 days.

    Ice2 railway ferry of project CNF08B for Crimea-Kavkaz line (for transportation of passengers, passenger railcars and hazardous cargo) has the following characteristics:

    RS class notation: КМ Ice 2 R2 AUT1-ICS HELIDECK Ro-ro passenger ship;

    LOA – 145.76 m;
    BOA – 22 m;
    Depth – 7.15 m;
    Draught – 4 m;
    Power – 4,080 KW;
    Cruising speed - 12 knots;
    Capacity: 15 railcars (24.54 m long) for transportation with passengers - 15 шт.; 25 railcars (24.54 m long) for transportation without passengers; 55 railcars (12.02 m long); 52 vehicle trains (without railcars); 312 passenger automobiles (only);
    Crew and personnel / reserve - 28/2;
    Passengers - 840;
    Endurance - 10 days.

    According to preliminary calculations (in prices of November 2014): lead vessel of Project CNF08A – RUB 2 bln 45.1 mln, serial vessel – RUB 1 bln 732.1 mln; lead vessel of Project CNF08B – RUB 2 bln 413.3 mln, serial vessel – RUB 2 bln 84.9 mln.

    When operated at Kavkaz-Crimea line ferries of Projects CNF08A and CNF08B are supposed to make two voyages per day, (700 round voyages over the operational period); if deployed for Kavkaz- Pti and Kavkaz-Varna lines the vessels are to make one voyage per week at any of the lines (50 round voyages over the operational period).
