USCG responds to plane crash near Lake Front Airport

The U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies are continuing to search for two people in the water after a plane crashed in Lake Pontchartrain near Lake Front Airport, Satuday, the USCG said in a press release.

A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station New Orleans have been doing search patterns in the area since the initial report of the crash.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries assisted with side-scan sonar and was able to locate what appears to be wings.

The state has rescue divers scheduled to arrive on scene and search the debris.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the incident.
