Kaliningrad offers fourth venue of “Import Substitution in Russian Shipbuilding: Ambition and Reality” roundtable slated for August 29

On the initiative of Kaliningrad Region’s shipbuilding cluster, the center of “Kaliningrad Region’s Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Cluster” will serve as the fourth venue of the roundtable meeting “Import Substitution in Russian Shipbuilding: Ambition and Reality” in video conference format.

The main venue of the meeting is the event hall of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping in Saint-Petersburg. The second venue - Industrial Department of the Primorsky Territory’s Administration in Vladivostok. The third one - the Intellectual Center — Scientific Library of Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NARFU, Arkhangelsk).

The round table slated to be held on August 29, 2019 in St. Petersburg will be hosted by IAA PortNews IAA with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. Sponsors of the roundtable meeting: Marine Cargo Bureau LLC, Nordic Engineering JSC.

Many participants of Russian shipbuilding market believe that the adoption of Russian Government decree No 719 aimed at increasing the share of Russian components in shipbuilding projects at Russian shipyards for Russian customers and funding the newbuilds through state budget funds (state orders, state subsidies, etc.) as a premature step. The change in the legislation has caused discussions in different segments of the industry about the practice of using a small range of domestic ship components and has led, in some cases, to the suspension of new contracts for commercial vessels with domestic shipyards.

The Roundtable Moderator is Gennady Yegorov, D.Eng.Sc, Proff., General Director, Marine Engineering Bureau.

Terms of participation in the roundtable meeting: as a listener for free. Registration is required.
