RF Ministry of Industry and Trade to prevent outflow of shipbuilding contracts from Russian shipyards
RF Ministry of Industry and Trade has prepared a package of amendments to RF Government Decree No 719 dated 17 July 2015 “On confirmation of industrial goods production in the territory of the Russian Federation”. As Boris Kabakov, Director of the Shipbuilding and Marine Facilities Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, told IAA PortNews, the amendments of a clarification nature are to prevent outflow of shipbuilding contracts from Russian shipyards.
“As of today, none of the customers have rejected placing shipbuilding orders in Russia due to Decree No 719. Those few cases of rejection should be attributed to so called ‘tight money’ offered by Russian financial institutions”, he explained.
RF Government approved amendments to the Governmental Decree No 719 dated 17 July 2015 in early April 2019. The document sets forth criteria to define ships as of Russian origin which does not rule out possible cooperation with foreign manufacturers during the construction process. The document had been approved by the Ministry of Transport and other ad hoc agencies and organizations.
