NIBULON launched the fourth POSS-115 Project tug

NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard says it has launched the fourth POSS-115 project tug. It is the last vessel of this project envisaged by the production program for 2018-2019.

Zinaida Hutnikova, an employee of the painting and insulation area, became a godmother of the newly built NIBULON-11 tug intended to escort convoys of non-self-propelled vessels along the Dnipro River and the BDLC. She was involved in insulating and painting of the tug. After the completion of outfitting works and successful completion of all trials, the vessel will be put into operation. Thus, the fleet of NIBULON’s shipping company will have ten POSS-115 project tugs. NIBULON-5 and NIBULON-6 tugs of this project were the first complete vessels built at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard in 2014.

The first tug of a new series of four POSS-115 project vessels was keel-laid by NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy and the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on May 23, 2018 during solemnities on the occasion of opening of international exhibitions “Shipbuilding-2018” and “Water Transport” at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard.  The vessels of the project have the following technical particulars: length – 37.2 m, draught – 2.54 m, total capacity of main engines – 1,880 kW (about 2,500 hp), speed – 11 knots. We have installed on the tug the equipment from such well-known companies of the world as Mitsubishi (main engines), Volvo-Penta (diesel generators), Rolls-Royce (rudder propellers), Viessmann (a boiler), DMT (deck equipment), and others.

After the launching of the fourth POSS-115 project tug, NIBULON’s shipbuilders will be able to fully concentrate on building the largest vessel in the history of independent Ukraine – a self-propelled 140-m floating crane with a storage capacity of 10,000 tons. It should be launched this April. At the same time, outfitting is being performed on three POSS-115 project tugs. The specialists are performing maintenance of the fleet of NIBULON’s shipping company. And the reconstruction of the shipyard’s capacities is being continued.
