NIBULON completed the first stage of its Shipbuilding and Repair Yard modernization

Despite severe weather conditions (severe blizzards and frost of -13 °C, due to wind it felt like -20 °C), construction of a new metal-working workshop and a warehouse of metal with area for metal cleaning and priming with total capacity of metal storage of 10 000 tons is being finished, NIBULON says in a press release.

To complete the given facilitiesthe company has already bought all the necessary modern equipment, namely: a portal plasma cutting machine SUPRAREX HD (ESAB AB, Sweden),  a shipbuilding press SBP 275 (Nieland B.V., the Netherlands), a ROSLER roller conveyor machine for rolled plates and frames RRB 27/6 (Rosler Oberflachentechnik GmbH, Germany), and a frame bending machine SBK 275 (Nieland B.V., the Netherlands). On February 1, as it was planned, the workshop will start its operation.

There will be finished a “Kirovets” portal assembly crane 32 modernization soon; it was delivered from Kyiv by our own shipping company. The crane part is mounted by Yuzhmormontazh. The company is holding a tender for modernization of electrical part with transition from relay-contactor control to frequency converters; this will provide more smooth and accurate work, and will reduce energy consumption, dynamic load on mechanical parts.

At the same time, we have already received the first part of the project documents to construct a new sectional assembly workshop; upon completion of modernization it will be used to build special orders of more than 2600 m2 which is part of the next stage of modernization. It’s planned that the workshop will produce its first products in June.

The workshop will be equipped with four cranes with carrying capacity of 10 and 5 tons, and new welding equipment. The workshop commissioning will allow us to come closer to the main part of reconstruction, namely: construction of a new launching and lifting gear and the main complex of hull workshops. Moreover, the premises for central warehouse will be repaired and equipped with 20 tons crane.

Modernization of the shipyard also provides for increase of capacities of crane facilities by placing additional portal crane with the carrying capacity of 32 tons and replacement of the portal cranes by new ones with carrying capacity of up to 35 tons.

On the whole, upon reconstruction NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard will not only move to its own cycle of metal processing (without third parties of the industry) but also increase volumes of metal processing. Incidentally, according to results of the previous year, NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard processed more than 6 000 tons of metal of Ukrainian metallurgical companies. This amount of metal can be put into 92 hopper cars. For comparison: in 2013, since the start of operation, the shipyard processed 200 tons, in 2014 – 1,200 tons, in 2015 – 3,700 tons.

At the same time, NIBULON will be able to construct up to 15 units of cargo fleet per year due to modernization of the shipyard and cooperation with the European Investment Bank.

It should be noted that modernizing its own shipbuilding and repair yard NIBULON gives job to about 250 builders and other specialists, besides job given to more than 600 shipbuilders, in such a difficult period for our country.
