Port of Gdansk takes part in TransPoland International Transport and Logistics Exhibition

The Port of Gdansk was present among the active participants of the three-day TransPoland International Transport and Logistics Exhibition for the fourth time, presenting its potential, its current cargo handling capability and its storage and warehousing possibilities, says press center of PGA. Just like every year, the event attracted hundreds of representatives from the transport and logistics sector, including railway and road carriers, freight forwarders, importers, and exporters.

The latter enjoyed particular interest among the numerous visitors to the port's stand. They included representatives of not only the domestic transport and logistics sector, but largely of Belarusian and Ukrainian transport and logistics companies, who made no attempt to hide their interest in cooperation with the Port of Gdansk.

Just like last year, the exhibition was organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction. Apart from the Port of Gdansk, TransPoland's expert and institutional partners included: the Polish Organisation of Commerce and Distribution, the Polish International Freight Forwarders Association, the Association of International Road Carriers in Poland, the Polish Chamber of Commerce, the Polish Transport Union supporting the development and competitiveness of Polish transport, the Main Inspectorate of Road Transport, the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers in Turkey, the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, the Transport and Logistics Poland employers' association, and the Polish Abnormal Load Transport Employers' Association.

Already on the first day of the exhibition, the Port of Gdansk's stand was visited by the Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction, Ms. Justyna Skrzydlo, responsible for the Department of Transport Strategy and International Cooperation, who performed the opening ceremony of the exhibition and the accompanying conference.

Just like in previous years, this year's edition of the exhibition attracted large numbers of representatives from the broadly-defined transport industry, however, this year has witnessed particular interest in what Gdansk has to offer, which was clearly visible at the port's stand. The desire to change the logistics solutions used to date was emphasised. Alternative supply chains, faster and less expensive transport solutions are being sought. It was stressed that there is a need to look for logistics alternatives among the eastern seaports, which - unlike the western ports - are not yet facing the issue of congestion, considerably slowing down the process of delivering cargo to target markets.

The Port of Gdansk has been a partner of TransPoland from the very beginning, i.e. since 2013, but this year's edition of the event, the fourth, which ended on 10 November, has to be considered one of the more successful ones, as it proved that in the Polish transport and logistics sector, the Port of Gdansk is gaining more and more recognition, and becoming more and more important, which is particularly exciting in the era of an increasingly difficult and competitive market.
