The Central Research Institute of Marine Engineering was established in 1970 by the order of the Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry of 22nd July, 1970 on the basis of the "Proletarsky Zavod" design bureau. The prime object of the Institute establishment was organization of R&D base for marine equipment and reduction of its development cycle.
Today, JSC of close type "Central Research Institute of Marine Engineering" is one of the major Russian enterprises engaged in development and supply of ship machinery installed practically on all Russian merchant and naval vessels.
