Throughput of port Kaliningrad in Jan-Sep’2019 fell by 21% Y-o-Y to 8.45 million tonnes

In January-September 2019, the port of Kaliningrad handled 8,454,300 tonnes of cargo, down 21%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 31% to 1,235,200 tonnes including 698,700 tonnes of coal (-15%), 4,200 tonnes of mineral fertilizers (-32%) and 514,000 tonnes of other cargoes (-45%).

Transshipment of dry loose cargo declined by 12% to 2,870,400 tonnes, general cargo – by 24% to 968,100 tonnes.

The port also handled 543,600 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (-36%) and 1,753,000 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-31%) including 685,200 tonnes of oil products (-56%), 407,000 tonnes of crude oil (-5%) and 616,200  tonnes of food cargo (+18%).

The port’s container throughput grew by 26%, year-on-year, to 251,397 TEUs.
