Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard signs contract on construction of 11 dry cargo carriers for STLC

Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) and State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) have signed an agreement on construction and delivery of 11 ships of Project RSD59. According to the shipyard, it is to deliver the series before December 2020.

Under the contract, three ships are to be delivered by the end of 2019 with eight more ships – not later than 30 November 2020.

“The shipyard has already accumulated experience needed for construction of RSD59 series and has gained a reputation of a yard specializing in construction of commercial ships of river/sea navigation”, said Mikhail Pershin, Acting General Director of Krasnoye Sormovo.

In January 2019, Krasnoye Sormovo won an open competition for construction of 11 ships by the end of 2021. Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard was the only participant of the competition announced by STLC. The contract price is RUB 10.437 billion. The source of financing is the federal budget subsidy and own resources of STLC.

That is the third series of RSD59 ships ordered by STLC to Krasnoye Sormovo. The first series of five ships was completed in October 2018, the second one numbering four units is under construction.
