MCB Group commenced providing services on repair and testing of shipboard shutoff devices and hose couplings
Marine Cargo Bureau (MCB Group) has commenced providing services on repair and testing of shipboard shutoff devices and hose couplings, MCB Genera Director Aleksandr Sitov told IAA PortNews.
According to him, replacement of ship systems’ devices with new ones is not always reasonable or possible. However, repair of such devices requires quality control and compliance with a number of regulatory documents.
Lack of control considerably increases the risk of using low-quality products during repair or construction of ships.
MCB has established a dedicated center for inspection and testing of ship systems’ devices. The shipyards will obtain devices tested by certified facilities in compliance with guidance documentation.
Among the new activities of the group are services on conducting basic tests of defence and civilian industry products under excess hydraulic pressure.
As of today, MCB has mastered the procedure of inspection and assessment of ship systems’ devices, hose couplings, gas cylinders etc. Bench tests are conducted according to authorized procedures with exposure (pressure) limit of up to 400 kgf/cm². The test facility of MCB certified by D.I.Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology guarantees the simulation of required exposure. Tests programmes and procedures are properly developed and approved in compliance with specification requirements. Any test is followed by signing of a certificate of completion and test record sheet.
The works are conducted under agreements signed upon application of companies with quality control executed by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
MCB works in the interest of RF Defence Ministry under the current state contracts are accompanied by development and issue of all plans and records that substantiate prices and labor input basing on approved economic norms.
The quality of services on regular periodic inspection of pressure equipment is confirmed by positive findings of inspection carried out by Rostechnadzor.
