Russian Defence Minister arrives in St. Petersburg to attend final rehearsal of Main Naval Parade
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu will inspect the parade line of ships in Kronstadt Harbour and Neva river, then the Head of the Military Department will check the order of the ships passing, the skills of crews and commanders to observe the intervals of movement, speed limit, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
Today, the Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu arrived in St. Petersburg to attend the final rehearsal of the Main Naval Parade.
It will take place in the waters of Neva river and Kronstadt Harbour. The Head of the Military Department will check the participants' readiness for the parade, which will take place on July 28 - Navy Day.
It will be attended by more than 40 warships equipped with modern and the latest weapons. These are, in particular, the newest surface ships with which the Navy is equipped, ships of the far ocean and sea zone, whose serial construction has already been deployed.
Among the participants of the final rehearsal are the frigate Admiral Kasatonov, the corvette Gremyashchy, small-size missile ships Mytishchi, Serpukhov, the patrol ship Vasily Bykov, the nuclear submarine Smolensk, the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov. A anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, tactical groups of patrol and anti-sabotage ships will also be involved.
Parade groups of naval aviation will present four dozen airplanes and helicopters at the final rehearsal.
During the final rehearsal, the Russian Defence Minister will ispect the parade line of ships in Kronstadt Harbour and the Neva river.
During the final rehearsal of crews and ship commanders on observing the intervals between the ships, the speed limit and keeping the ships on a given course when following them along the fairway in the waters of Kronstadt and the Neva will be finally checked.
It also checks the organization of communications with ships, compliance with navigation safety measures, coherence of actions of the parade group of naval aviation during the flight along the approved route, and training of the parade column.
The parade will take place on July 28 in the Neva water area between the Blagoveshchensk and Troitsk bridges and in the water area of the Kronstadt Harbour raid along the southern barrier wall of the port.
The parade will include land, sea and air parts, which will allow a holistic presentation of the modern look of the Russian Navy. More than 4,000 servicemen, 43 surface ships and submarines, 41 aircraft will take part in the parade.
