Steel cutting ceremony held in China for a floating transfer dock facility for Zvezda shipbuilding complex
In the framework of his working visit to China, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin has taken part in the steel cutting ceremony for a floating transfer dock facility for Zvezda shipbuilding complex being created to the order of RF President Vladimir Putin. According to the press center of the oil company, the 40,000t floating transfer dock is intended for transfer and launching of vessels and marine equipment from the open outfitting facilities of Zvezda complex.
The design of the transfer dock facility is unprecedented for the Russian shipbuilding industry. It allows for vessels’ axial rolling on from the shipyard’s three different slipways and for cross-axis rolling on of offshore facilities.
The participation of Russian specialists at all stages of design and construction will ensure efficient integration into shipyard operations. At the same time, the unique expertise and experience of the leading Chinese shipbuilding company, CSIC, will mitigate the risks of project implementation.
The contract provides that the Chinese companies will develop the design documentation, manufacture the equipment, train the crew and conduct final trial of the barge in Bolshoi Kamen Bay located in the Far East of Russia.
“We start a significant phase of the project to manufacture facilities for Zvezda shipbuilding complex being created to the order of RF President Vladimir Putin. I am grateful to our Chinese partners for the contract implementation of high quality and as scheduled which will let us create the world’s most advanced shipbuilding yard”, Igor Sechin said at the ceremony.
The contract for the construction and delivery of a floating transfer dock facility for Zvezda shipbuilding complex was signed by the Far Eastern Plant Zvezda, China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co., Ltd. (CSOC) and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (BSIC) on 25 June 2016. The document was signed in the presence of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of China Xi Jinping by Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and President of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Hu Wen Ming.
