Norwegian trawler detained in Murmansk, Russia
The Norwegian shrimp and cod harvesting vessel Arctic Swan has detained March 27 in the Russian port city of Murmansk on illegal fishing allegations, the Barents Observer reported.
The vessel, which is being detained by Russia's coast guard, is owned by the Alta, Norway-based company, Arctic Swan, supplies product sold by the company Coldwater Prawns of Norway.
According to the newspaper, the arrest comes days after Russian and Norwegian fishing sector players pledged closer cooperation after the Fisheries in the Arctic event in Murmansk.
Signatories to the cooperation agreement included the Norwegian Fishermen’s Association, the Russian Union of Northern Fish Industry and the Association of Murmansk Coastal and Fish Farming Industry, the newspaper said.
